General Announcement

Get to Know Board Member: Mark Clarke

Job Title & Employer: CommunityWorks Inc. Senior Consultant

Tell us a little about yourself: I am originally from Cincinnati, Ohio and live in Byron Center now. My favorite hobbies are reading, growing house plants, golf, and writing.

How did you get involved with CLC? I was a member of the first Board of CLC and Chair for seven years.

What draws you to CLC’s mission? I have always had a passion for the CLC mission and its educational format that strengthens the quality of life for both the child and family. The staff and parents’ commitment for each child to reach his or her potential living with Cerebral Palsy always motivated me to support the program.

What would you want to share about CLC and its programs that maybe some readers don’t know? The progress each child makes from simply moving their arm to others attending school has constantly challenged me to be thankful for my gifts. No matter how small the progress, each step creates confidence in the child and hope for the parents. It is like watching a miracle happen before my eyes.

What is your advice to someone who is looking for ways to help CLC and get more involved? No matter how small or large, the contribution you give makes a significant difference in the quality of life of the child, family, and society
